Designer: Norman Cherner
Cherner dining armchair, is a curved moulded, original genuine designed arm chair designed by Norman Cherner in 1958. It is a modern, high quality, contemporary classic original multi layered ply wooden armchair. It is 100% manufactured by Cherner in the USA.
This is a beautiful, designer classic chair which is also extremely comfortable. The design and multi plywood layer construction is beautiful and built to last, so that it can handed down from generation to generation.
Norman Cherner, the designer who created this contemporary classic, is an unsung hero of the 1950’s, an innovator in plywood and affordable design. The full story of how he created the Cherner chair is on the Apartment Therapy blog.
The seat is made of ever decreasing, laminated steam moulded plywood layers, decreasing from 15 plys down to 5 plys at the outer edge of the seat shell. This Cherner Armchair is manufactured to precise, exacting standards so that every detail and profile has been designed to create a stunning appearance and maximum comfort. This results in the Cherner Armchair being both strong and lightweight.
Don't be cheated by the poor copies! Cherner produce these chairs using water based lacquers and stains to help reduce their impact on the environment. All Cherner Armchairs are available in Walnut, Beech and Ebony. Only the Cherner Side Chairs and stacking chairs are also available with stained white and red orange plywood finishes. The wooden Cherner Armchairs and Side chairs are stocked in the UK by Connections at Home and delivered FREE to anywhere within mainland England, Scotland and Wales.
